Southern Miss QB Howard leaving program

Southern Miss quarterback Keon Howard announced he is leaving the program after two seasons with the Eagles.Howard started seven games last season, throwing for 1,199 yards and eight touchdowns with five interceptions. He also ran for 181 yards. However, Howard shared the job with Kwadra Griggs, who took over the full-time job for the final four games of the season.Griggs is returning in 2018, and Howard was also facing competition from former Northwest Mississippi Community College quarterback Jack Abraham.”It is with great regret that I inform you of my decision to not continue my education and football career at The University of Southern Mississippi,” Howard posted in a tweet Thursday night. “I would like to thank the coaching staff, my teammates, staff members, student body, and others who have supported me.”I will not forget the moments spent battling at The Rock with my teammates and the loyalty from the fans in victory or defeat. These past few years I have enjoyed my time getting to know everyone that is involved with Southern Miss Football. I would like to thank everyone for the help and support that I have received.
